BPG WG Energy SST Achieves IEC Certification, Advancing Global Market Expansion

July 30, 2026

WG Energy has recently completed IEC certification for its solid-state transformer (SST) module in cooperation with TÜV Rheinland, meeting internationally recognized IEC safety requirements.

According to the certification program, WG Energy’s SST has completed a comprehensive international conformity assessment covering product safety, reliability and environmental adaptability. The achievement marks an important milestone for the company’s SST business as it moves from overseas contract signing toward large-scale international project delivery.

A Major Milestone in SST International Certification

The applicable IEC safety framework is designed for power electronic converter systems operating at high voltage levels, including equipment with rated voltages above AC 1,000 V or DC 1,500 V and up to AC 36 kV or DC 54 kV.

It establishes a comprehensive safety requirement system for high-voltage power electronic conversion equipment and provides an important basis for evaluating product safety and reliability.

According to the original certification announcement, WG Energy’s SST is the first SST product to complete this certification process under the relevant IEC framework, establishing an important reference for the international compliance development of solid-state transformer technology.

Comprehensive Testing Verifies High Reliability

The certification process covered dozens of test items across multiple areas, including basic performance testing, mechanical testing, electrical testing, fault testing and environmental testing.

The evaluation included:

  • Verification of fundamental performance and safety indicators under rated operating conditions;

  • Mechanical strength and structural protection assessment for transportation, installation and operation;

  • Electrical safety testing covering insulation coordination and withstand-voltage performance;

  • Fault-condition testing simulating abnormal conditions such as short circuits and overloads;

  • Environmental testing under demanding conditions including high temperature, high humidity and high altitude.

Completion of these rigorous tests demonstrates that WG Energy’s SST products can meet the stringent performance and reliability requirements of international markets.

Supporting Overseas Project Delivery and Market Expansion

Obtaining TÜV certification carries significant strategic value for WG Energy’s international development. The certification provides an authoritative third-party basis for building customer confidence while helping remove technical and compliance barriers in overseas markets.

For European projects in particular, IEC compliance is an important market-access requirement. Completion of the certification provides stronger support for WG Energy’s SST applications in areas such as data centers, new energy microgrids and charging infrastructure.

The certification also supports the delivery of existing overseas projects in markets including Australia, Europe and Southeast Asia, further accelerating project acceptance and implementation.

With internationally recognized certification in place, WG Energy is strengthening the foundation for larger-scale SST deployment in global markets.

Advancing the Helios SST Platform for Global Applications

As a leading participant in China’s solid-state transformer sector, WG Energy has consistently regarded internationalization as a core strategic direction.

From participating in TÜV Rheinland’s SST standardization activities to completing international IEC certification, the company continues to strengthen both its technical capabilities and its alignment with global standards.

WG Energy plans to further accelerate IEC certification across the Helios SST product family and multiple voltage classes, providing a stronger compliance foundation for the global delivery of high-efficiency, highly reliable and intelligent solid-state transformer solutions.
